GUIDE / STRAIGHT ANSWER
Why am I getting Google Ads clicks but no calls?
The campaign may be attracting the wrong searches, the page may not earn trust, the call route may fail on mobile—or calls may be happening without reliable tracking.

The useful answer
Verify call tracking first. Then review the actual search terms, mobile page, phone visibility, opening hours, advert-to-page message and reasons a visitor might hesitate. More traffic is not the first fix when the existing journey leaks.
What to check first
The right decision depends on a few commercial facts. Work through these before changing budget or buying another service.
- ✓Connected calls are tracked correctly
- ✓The phone link works on a real mobile device
- ✓The page matches the search and advert
- ✓Opening hours and response expectations are clear
- ✓Search terms show commercial intent
Prove whether the phone is actually silent
A phone-link click is not the same as a connected conversation. Google forwarding numbers or another appropriate call-tracking setup can report calls and duration. Check that number replacement, routing and consent work correctly before diagnosing the campaign from incomplete data.
Inspect what the visitor expected
Read the search term, advert and landing-page headline in sequence. The service, area and urgency should still make sense after the click. If an advert promises an immediate quote and the page offers only a vague contact route, the journey breaks.
- ✓Same service
- ✓Same location
- ✓Same offer
- ✓Obvious phone action
- ✓Visible trust
Test the mobile call journey
Open the page on a phone, use the actual advert landing URL, tap the number and confirm the dialler receives the correct digits. Check whether cookie banners, sticky bars, menus or huge images obscure the action. Page speed and ease of navigation affect the experience after the click.
Check response reality
Calls outside staffed hours, missed calls and slow callbacks can be reported as marketing failure even when demand exists. Align ad schedules and wording with when the business can respond, then classify connected calls by outcome.
What I would check in your account
If you share what the business sells, where customers are and what is not working, I can inspect the actual route from search to enquiry and tell you the first thing I would improve. If there is no sensible paid-search opportunity, I will say so.

Common questions
Short, honest answers.
Is a click on the phone number a call conversion?+
It can be configured as a signal, but it does not prove the call connected. Call reporting with an appropriate duration threshold provides stronger evidence.
Should the phone number be at the top of the page?+
For call-led services it should be easy to find and use, particularly on mobile. The page still needs enough relevance and trust to make the person call.
Could the keyword be the problem?+
Yes, but inspect the actual search term rather than only the keyword. The same keyword can match searches with very different intent.
