GUIDE / STRAIGHT ANSWER

Why are my Google Ads not showing?

Do not repeatedly search for your own advert. Use the account status, impressions and Ad Preview and Diagnosis tool to identify the actual reason.

One practical question. One straight answer.

The useful answer

Check billing, campaign dates, status, policy approval, location, schedule, keywords, budget and Ad Rank. An advert may also be eligible but not appear in one specific auction. Diagnose from account evidence rather than a personal Google search.

01

What to check first

The right decision depends on a few commercial facts. Work through these before changing budget or buying another service.

  • Account and billing active
  • Campaign, ad group, keyword and advert enabled
  • Policy status approved or eligible
  • Location and schedule match the test
  • Budget and Ad Rank sufficient for auctions
02

Confirm whether the campaign has impressions

Your own search is personalised by location, device, history and the live auction. Google recommends using Ad Preview and Diagnosis and checking real campaign metrics. If impressions exist, the advert is showing somewhere even if you cannot reproduce it.

03

Check the blocking basics

Confirm valid billing, start and end dates, enabled status at every level, approved adverts, eligible keywords, location settings and ad schedule. Policy details and diagnostic messages normally point to the next action more reliably than guessing.

  • Billing
  • Dates and status
  • Policy
  • Keywords
  • Locations and schedule
04

Separate budget from rank

Search Lost IS (budget) indicates missed eligible impressions attributed to budget. Search Lost IS (rank) points to Ad Rank. Google says Ad Rank considers bid, competition, context and auction-time quality, including advert and landing-page relevance.

05

Low search volume may be the answer

A very narrow service-and-town keyword can have little or intermittent demand. Keyword Planner provides estimates, but the actual account impressions over a suitable period are better evidence. Expand only to closely related intent the business genuinely wants.

06

What I would check in your account

If you share what the business sells, where customers are and what is not working, I can inspect the actual route from search to enquiry and tell you the first thing I would improve. If there is no sensible paid-search opportunity, I will say so.

Common questions

Short, honest answers.

Why can’t I see my own ad?

A single personal search represents one auction and is affected by location, device and other signals. Use Ad Preview and Diagnosis plus account impressions.

Does a low budget stop all impressions?

It can limit eligibility across the day, but other factors such as targeting, keyword volume, policy and Ad Rank may also be responsible.

Should I click my own ad to test it?

No. Use the preview and diagnosis tools and test conversion tracking through controlled methods so you do not pay for or distort live activity.
